Disney World is only 6 miles from Outdoor Resorts, but there are many other areas to explore.
Starting right at Outdoor Resorts, you have many things to do. Swimming in the two heated pools, playing shuffleboard and miniature golf, enjoying the 9-hole par 3 golf course, playing tennis, and socializing with others over cards in the Community Center. Outdoor Resorts offers many activities each day, and also organizes group trips from time to time throughout the year.
If you like the beach, you are about 1 hour from either the Atlantic Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico. For waves, we enjoy the quick trip over to Cocoa Beach. Fun in the sun, and a trip to Ron Jon Surf Shop for a bit of browsing/shopping in the largest surf shop in the world. You can also visit Cape Canaveral while you are there. If you prefer the calm of the Gulf of Mexico and the white sand beaches, we recommend the short drive to the beaches near St. Petersburg and up to Clearwater.
Do you like college football? Florida is the place to be during bowl season. Being a Penn Stater, I have enjoyed going to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando and watching Penn State play up close. University of Central Florida stadium is not a long drive from Outdoor Resorts, so you can go to the game, and come home to enjoy some tailgating at home afterward. The Outback Bowl is only 1 hour away in Tampa, Florida as well.
For parks other than Disney, don’t forget to visit Universal Studios (several parks), Legoland, and Sea World. Between these facilities and Disney, you are sure to be amused.
There are many things to do in Florida, and Outdoor Resorts can be your place to stay as you explore and enjoy.
